Stroller Liner Tivoli

Stella Rubinshteyn is a mom to 3 amazing boys, and the original inventor of the world’s most luxurious stroller seat liner!

Originally from Europe, Stella discovered that in comparison to the European countries, where it’s a common practice to place children inside a stroller lined with a cotton blanket or better yet a buggy liner, American parents place their children on bare stroller upholstery without any lining protection at all.  Typical stroller upholstery is not removable or machine washable, and may feel rough on baby’s delicate skin. Considering that children spend so much time in their strollers, it seems logical that they should get proper physical support and the seat should be comfortable, soft and clean: Let’s face it, we’d never consider sleeping on a bare mattress ourselves!

The only stroller liner Stella could find for her son was a traditional white carriage liner with ruffles, something that just would not cut it for her boys. After realizing there was a gap in the market for stylish stroller liners in fun, modern designs and prints, that can coordinate well with any popular stroller brand, Tivoli Couture created its first line of comfortable Luxury Plush stroller liners that would also be reversible for versatility and year round comfort.  Soon after, while enjoying her brand new memory foam mattress topper and pillow at home, it occurred to Stella that memory foam would make the perfect padding for a deliciously comfortable stroller liner – prompting a second generation of Luxury NuComfort™ memory foam stroller liners to be born.

The new line of memory foam stroller liners garnered an excellent reaction from her family and friends – and most importantly, her children.  Stella recognized that the gap in the market she’d discovered was for a product that other moms would love and appreciate too. Within months just from word-of-mouth recommendations, Tivoli Couture stroller liners were in huge demand with some mom and pop boutiques selling close to 100 stroller liners a month!  Before long, Stella was on a mission to expand her business by sourcing manufacturers who could fulfill the increased requests.

Tivoli Couture stroller liners are made from soft, baby friendly fabric, which coupled with the memory foam padding, means that most children are happy to remain in the stroller for even longer. And this, as we all know, makes for a happier and calmer mom and dad.

What makes Tivoli Couture baby gear so special?

 Luxury NuComfort™

Tivoli – Luxury NuComfort™ memory foam multi functional stroller liners

Tivoli Couture continues to innovate to ensure our products are ahead of trends and new features.  For example, our new product – the Classic Luxury™ Memory Foam Stroller Liner – has been upgraded to include reflective trim for night time strolling; we also added useful loops to keep baby’s accessories within reach.

Realizing that baby gear can mount up in price as well as volume, Tivoli Couture is dedicated to creating products that are multi- functional and affordably priced too. Examples of these include: stroller liners that double as changing pads and tummy time mats; the 3 in 1 Mommy’s Hug™ weather cover which can be used with any baby carrier, stroller or car seat, or even as a portable blanket with a foot pocket; and the Miracle Wrap™ Bunting System which works as a footmuff, blanket, picnic or floor mat, and can even be easily rolled into a pillow! All Tivoli Couture products are built for year-round use and are geared towards helping parents maximize the value of their investments.

Tivoli Couture is inspired by children and focused on the needs of its customers.  The business was built through word-of-mouth and listening to customer feedback and insights – something that Stella values highly and responds to.  It’s proven to be a successful formula:  Tivoli Couture has thousands of satisfied customers across the world.

The Tivoli Name: Tivoli, originally an ancient town located in the Lazio region of central Italy, founded a few centuries before Rome. Also reads “I Lov It” backwards. In 1987 as a teenage child, Stella and her family immigrated from the former Soviet Union to the United States. On her journey to America, Stella and her mom visited several Italian cities, including Tivoli. Many years later, Stella with her husband coincidentally purchased a home on Tivoli Court. This inspired Stella to name her new company Tivoli.

4 strollers_xsToday: Tivoli Couture is an award winning baby gear and accessories company.  The Company’s tag line ‘Practical Luxury’ sums up its mission: To create innovative and expertly functional items, which offer everyday luxury, at an accessible price.

How to Make Your Kitchen Family Friendly

The kitchen is the busiest room in the average family home, and also the most dangerous.  According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, 67,000 children experience an accident in the kitchen each year.  The most common kinds of accidents are burns, scalds, and falls from a great height, however a large number of children under the age of four are involved in accidents which involve the child eating or drinking something poisonous.

If you have a young child, it is a good idea to make sure that your kitchen is child-proof.

Here are a few tips to help you protect your child from common kitchen accidents and injuries.

Clutter Equals Danger – Children are naturally inquisitive, and as soon as your child is able to crawl they will want to go and look at all of those bright bottles, colorful power cords and strange looking shiny objects (including knives) in the kitchen. The easiest way to protect your child is to keep all of those things out of sight.

Six ways to protect your child

  • Make sure that all of your cleaning products and medications are in child-proof bottles.

Keep your knife blocks and other potentially dangerous items at the back of the counter, out of reach of children.

  • Put those child-proof bottles in cupboards with child-proof latches.
  • Keep your knife blocks and other potentially dangerous items at the back of the counter, out of reach of children.
  • Make sure that all electrical appliances are safely positioned towards the rear of the kitchen counters, again out of reach of a child.
  • Route power cords behind appliances – one of the most common causes of scalding is a child tugging on, or trying to swing on, a low hanging power cord attached to a kettle.
  • Put covers over all electrical sockets that are not in use.
Make sure that all electrical appliances are safely positioned towards the rear of the kitchen counters, again out of reach of a child.

Safe Home Appliances – The above safety precautions will help to protect very young children from the main hazards in the kitchen, but they’re not so effective for older children.  Once a child can walk, they’re going to want to explore.  Children love to imitate adults, and if they believe that the kitchen cupboards are “adults only” things then they’re going to be desperate to find out what is inside.  Try to make the kitchen as child-friendly as possible, and let your child do some things in the kitchen “Just like mommy and daddy”.

  • Install a shallow cabinet, and designate that cabinet as being just for your child. Let them keep their own cups and a few other items in there, so that the child can have some independence.
  • If you’re updating your entire kitchen, have a low island installed, so that your child can have a work-surface that is at a safe height for them, instead of having to climb onto a stool to help out at meal times.
  • Invest in some child-safe cooking utensils and let your child make their own simple dishes.  There are lots of child-friendly cookbooks with recipes that do not require sharp knives or hot ovens.
  • Upgrade your cooker to one with induction hobs instead of open elements for extra safety.
  • Use plastic bowls and chopping boards instead of Pyrex or other glassware if you know your child is going to be in the kitchen.

Finally, educate your child on the dangers of each item in the kitchen, and make sure that they know they are not to go in that room by themselves. When you are in the kitchen with your child, always practice the safety advice you preach.  For example, always use your oven gloves, handle knives carefully, and test the temperature of water before you start the washing up.  Children learn by example, and if they see you taking risks, they will be more inclined to do the same.

Mompreneur Betsy Johnson | SwimZip

Betsy Johnson and FamilySkin Cancer survivor. Daughter. Sister. Aunt. Wife. Mom. Friend. Designer. Creator. Mompreneur. These are all words that can explain a little of Betsy’s life.

Betsy’s skin cancer diagnosis hit her like a ton of bricks.  “I was just 26 years old and living a very healthy life.  Cancer at that point was absolutely unimaginable.  And, yet, it was all to true.  I cried and cried and cried.  Kleenex made a small fortune off me during that time!”

But the truth was, while all Betsy had to show from the cancer was a large scar on her back, she was not the same woman that she was before the cancer.  The corporate world had lost its luster and she realized that she actually had been presented with was an opportunity to do something meaningful with her life.  She enjoyed working in the corporate world, but here was a chance to help others avoid her fate – and maybe even save lives.  With the conviction that comes from knowing without a doubt that you are doing something right, she dove headfirst into the world of UPF sun protective clothing … and thus was born SwimZip.

Easy as 1-2-3 SPF 50+Parents love SwimZip and even celebrity parents too.  SwimZip, like all of the SwimZips today, are chlorine-resistant swim shirt with UV 50+ protection and a full-length zipper that made taking it on and off easy for all involved.  The zippers have a protective flap so as not to catch the skin and the seams are flat-stitched so there is no chaffing.

Betsy’s “a-ha” moment came while sitting on the beach with her brother. He  complained about how his daughter hated taking on and off her swim shirt just as much as she hated having sunscreen applied to her body.  “My brother would not let Maryella go play in the sun without sun protection,” Betsy said.  “Her blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin make the perfect combination for sun burns.  I cut Maryella’s swim shirt down the front and fastened it back together with safety pins.  All of a sudden, the shirt was a breeze to take on and off.  I thought I might be on to something.”

SwimZip Ad 2013“A zipper in place of the safety pins was an obvious change, but still I had so many questions going through my mind. How would I manufacture these?  What type of design would I like?  How would I promote this new product?  How would I fund the project and take it to market?  Why would parents and kids like my product enough to buy it? I was burning the candle from both ends with my corporate job and SwimZip, and I loved it!”

Betsy’s passion is to keep kids sun safe and adults now too.  SwimZip will be creating  adult sizes this summer.  Parents lead by example, so parents zipping on their UV 50+ sun protective swimwear is key – and SwimZip will have stylish adult size SwimZips that can be worn all summer long and even while walking in the sun!

A Little More About The Johnson Family:

Stop Worrying – Just Love Them Unconditionally

When a child comes into the world, there is little they can rely on. One thing they should always be able to rely on though, is a mother’s unconditional love. I have heard this many times and it never meant much to me until about 4 years ago.

If you are an ‘older’ woman who is late to motherhood, you may (as I certainly was) be very concerned that you have left it too late, that you may not have the room, enthusiasm and energy inside yourself to be a ‘good mother’, whatever that is? To be honest, I was absolutely terrified of being a mother. I had spent the last 10 years becoming sure of myself in my chosen career of law but mothering is obviously an altogether different thing. Eventually after many sleepless nights and long winded, teary conversations with my husband I had a random conversation with his mother of all people, yes, my mother-in-law, and she gave me the advice that I have clung to for the last 4 years — and 2 beautiful children later.

She told me that you can get worked up and worried about all the rights and wrongs, the good things to do as a mother and the bad, the important things to do at certain ages and the absolute no-nos. But, she said, the best thing you can do is forget all the different versions of advice that you hear and just love your children. Worry is actually the worst trait of any parent, and more particularly self-worry, worry that you are a bad mother or that your children are no good. Yes, she said, the less you worry about things and the more you look like everything is okay, the more secure you are in yourself, even if you have to pretend, the more secure and happy your children will be. You just have to look and act like you know what you’re doing even if you have no idea and are way out of your depth, you simply tell them everything is okay and give them your love and security. Your (their) mother’s unconditional love.

This advice I can safely say has saved me so much self inflicted torture, has saved my children so much mother inflicted torture and has saved my marriage dozens of times over. That is the reason that I felt compelled to pass it on right here. Honestly, I seriously ask myself what seems like hundreds of times per day, ‘is this right for the children?’, ‘should they be eating this?’, ‘how should I discipline them?’ but my good old mother-in-law was right, just unconditionally love them and the rest all comes out in the wash.

When I am stressed or insecure, I get neurotic and crazy, I say silly things to my husband and I get so churned up inside myself and it’s then that this mothering method is an absolute god-send. Of course I still have all the heart wrenching moments that I presume all mothers have. I have all the long nights when I am so sick of getting up every 15 minutes to the crying baby, I still hear all the criticisms of the mothers in my building as I go off to work 3 days a week. I still have my own mother telling me that I should be with the children more and all kinds of ‘advice’ like this, but all I can say is that I do have the ammunition now to be able to deal with all these pressures that are piled on mothers and I do as my mother-in-law said—I just love my children. I do know that I want the best for them. I don’t know if the way I am mothering is right, but I know that this happy, secure (at least outwardly) mother is truly giving her children the best start to life that all her experience and abilities can give them and what more can you do?

Can you relate to Florence’s experiences in motherhood? What is the best parenting advice you’ve received? Share in the comments below.

unconditional_loveGuest Post | Author Bio – Florence fiercely loves her children and didn’t know such emotions existed until she gave birth. Understanding the meaning of unconditional love and its importance has placed her in excellent stead to face the ups and downs of parenting. Reading the work of the World Transformation Movement  has been paramount in helping her to understand the meaning of unconditional love.
